BUTTER YELLOW

Industry insiders already knew that butter yellow was going to be the color of the summer. The buzz started last season, when it began to shyly pop up on the runways of the Spring/Summer 2024 collections, only to reappear in the Fall/Winter shows as well. It won us over immediately, but now it’s official: it’s everywhere. And here it is again, featured alongside our La Silva in a dedicated Vogue Italia article.

Perfect for breezy summer looks—shorts, light dresses, airy tops—but also ideal for the current, still-somewhat-unpredictable weather. A butter yellow bag looks great paired with grey cardigans and desaturated jeans, or with white linen shirts and patterned mini skirts. We’re already convinced this shade will stick with us well into late September… and maybe even beyond.

But why butter yellow, exactly?

Because it’s soft, sophisticated, and way more versatile than you’d think. It’s not the bold, neon '90s yellow nor the sugary pastel of a dollhouse. It’s an elegant in-between, reminiscent of sunlit whipped cream, vintage summer Polaroids, and effortless lightness. It’s the kind of color that manages to act like a neutral without being boring—subtle, yet full of character.

The best part? It suits just about everyone. On fair skin, it brings out a healthy glow; on tanned or olive skin tones, it creates a super chic contrast.

How to wear it?

It’s surprisingly easy to pair—even if it might not seem that way at first glance. Butter yellow bags work beautifully with beige and baby blue for a safe combo, but also look incredibly cool in monochromatic outfits where you play with textures: linen, silk, raw cotton. Butter becomes the playful accessory in city looks and the understated statement in eveningwear.

If bold colors stress you out, starting with accessories is the smart move: a butter yellow bag is easy to match, but makes a statement right away. And once you get comfortable, you can play with other details in the same shade—a pair of mules, a headband, or a light sweater tossed over your shoulders that works perfectly in transitional weather.

We’ve featured it on our best sellers: Belmondo Mini, Mariù, La Silva, La Riviera, and Edda Mini. Compact and eye-catching, these bags look even more special and incredibly versatile in this color—perfect for both laid-back and elegant outfits.

The verdict

It’s not just a passing trend. We first spotted it nearly a year ago, and it's catching on—not just with fashion insiders, but with the whole creative world around it: from interior design to graphics to cosmetics. Butter yellow has all the makings of a new classic, with that warm, relaxed twist we’re all craving right now.

So yes: add it to your wishlist, pull it out of your closet if you already have something in the shade (maybe from a few summers ago), or treat yourself to a little upgrade. The message is clear: this summer is all about wearing the sun… but filtered through cream.
